MUSC1005 Bass Chorus

Grade 9-12.

Bass Chorus is a non-auditioned ensemble for grade 9-12 tenor and bass voices. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of vocal technique as it applies to the changing voice, as well as music literacy. Through the study of a varied selection of music literature, students enhance their understanding of music notation and other elements of music. Bass Chorus performs at all choral concerts. Participation in concert performances outside of the school day is required.

MUSC1004 Cecillian Singers

Grade 9.

This is the initial choral experience for grade 9 soprano and alto voices. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of vocal technique and music literacy (understanding music notation). Music is selected from all historical and stylistic periods. Cecillian Singers performs at all choral concerts. Participation in concert performances outside of the school day is required.

MATH1006A AP Computer Science A

Grade 9-12. Prerequisite is Geometry. Weighted Grade.

This one-year introductory course emphasizes structured computer programming. JAVA is emphasized as a tool to develop problem-solving, encourage student creativity, and facilitate discovery learning. Students who successfully complete this course and the AP Computer Science A examination may receive college credit and/or a higher placement for a college course.

 

MATH1004C Online Algebra 2/Trigonometry

Grade 9-12 Placement required

This online eLo course develops the algebraic concepts from Algebra I in greater depth. Emphasis is placed on basic operations associated with the real number system, polynomials and their various operations, graphs of linear equations, equalities and inequalities, matrices, quadratic functions, exponents and exponential functions. Algebra 2 is an essential course for those who plan to continue the study of mathematics in high school and college.

MATH1004H Honors Algebra 2 w/ Trigonometry and Statistics

Grade 9-11. Placement required. Weighted Grade.

This course covers the same topics as MATH1004 Algebra 2/Trigonometry & Statistics with greater depth and some additions including sequences and series. Starting with a brief review of some basic axioms and properties in algebra, the course moves quickly to newer topics, integrating real-life applications. The Math Practice Standards are the foundation of lessons, teaching students how to reason and think mathematically. A graphing calculator is required (TI-84 or equivalent is recommended).

MATH1004 Algebra 2 Trigonometry & Statistics

Grade 9-12. Successful completion of Algebra 1.  Completion of geometry recommended.

This course expands on concepts covered in Algebra 1 (MATH1002), but develops a deeper understanding while introducing more advanced algebra topics. The A2TS units include: linear models, linear systems, functions and relations, modeling and solving quadratic equations, polynomial functions, periodic functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, probability and statistics, and sequences and series. The Math Practice Standards are the foundation of lessons, teaching students how to reason and think mathematically. A graphing calculator (TI-84 or equivalent is recommended) is required.

MATH1003H Honors Geometry

Grade 9-10. Placement required. Weighted Grade.

In addition to covering the topics listed above for Geometry (MATH1003), this course provides a more rigorous and in-depth approach to covering geometric ideas and formal proofs. The Math Practice Standards are the foundation of lessons, teaching students how to reason and think mathematically.  A graphing calculator (TI 84 or equivalent, compass, and protractor are required.

MATH1003C Online Geometry

Grade 9-12 Placement required

This online eLo course provides students with the fundamental vocabulary, properties, language, content and procedures of geometry. Topics include triangles, circles, polygons, parallel lines, and inequalities, with an introduction to coordinate and solid geometry. Emphasis is placed on construction of formal proof, the analysis of the nature and structure of a logical system and on problem solving skills. This course includes applications of the students’ algebraic skills.

MATH1003 Geometry

Grade 9-11. Placement required

The Geometry units include: transformations, constructions, congruence, properties and applications of quadrilaterals and circles, coordinate geometry, similarity, right triangle trigonometry, and surface area and volume of three-dimensional figures. The Math Practice Standards are the foundation of lessons, teaching students how to reason and think mathematically. A graphing calculator is required (TI-84 or equivalent is recommended).

MATH1002 Algebra 1

Grade 9-10 Placement required.

The Algebra 1 units include: solving equations and inequalities, linear and exponential functions, systems of linear equations, quadratic functions, and statistics. The Math Practice Standards are the foundation of lessons, teaching students how to reason and think mathematically. A graphing calculator is required (Ti-84 or equivalent is recommended). In order to be successful, students should have a solid foundation in 7th and 8th grade math.
