This course introduces students to the evolving world of cybersecurity. The course explores cyber trends, threats—along with the broader topic of cybersecurity in a way that will matter to individuals and society. For instance, you’ll learn how to protect your personal privacy online while gaining additional insight into the challenges companies, and governmental and educational institutions face today.  A materials fee will be charged.

Grade 9-12.

The workforce of tomorrow will ask students to continually realign their skillset to the ever changing technological demands. The certification course provides students an opportunity to start building their portfolio of skills and establish a pathway to future skill sets demanded by employers now and in the future. Students will have the opportunity to earn certifications in Adobe, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Technology Associate.

MUSC2022BL Music Production I (Blended)

Grade 9-12

Designed to provide students with a basic knowledge in electronic music production, live sound, and recording. Students will explore sound production, music theory, studio recording techniques and basic musical keyboarding skills in a creative environment using a web-based Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Every unit in the class is broken down into projects where students will learn to create with a given set of tools, and the learning takes place both individually and in collaboration with others.

MATH 1008A AP Computer Science Principles

Grade 9-12. Prerequisite Algebra 1.  Weighted Grade.

This course offers a multidisciplinary approach to teaching the underlying principles of computation. The course will introduce students to the creative aspects of programming, abstractions, algorithms, large data sets, the Internet, cybersecurity concerns, and computing impacts.  The course is designed to be equivalent to a one-semester introductory college computing course and complements AP Computer Science A as it aims to broaden participation in the study of Computer Science.  AP Computer Science Principles also gives students the opportunity to use current technologies to create computational artifacts for both self-expression and problem solving.

Students who successfully complete this course and the AP Computer Science A examination may receive college credit and/or a higher placement for a college course.

 

PE1111BL – Physical Education (Blended)

Grade 9.

Students will work with their grade specific curriculum in a Physical Education class that is designed to provide an individualized learning approach toward personal wellness.  Students will create a personal fitness plan that focuses on individualized goals and components of fitness.  All goals and outcomes are aligned with state and district standards.  Students will have the opportunity to take the traditional classroom approach and apply what is learned toward instructor approved activities during the school day or outside school hours.  All students will gain knowledge of how to recognize, analyze, and evaluate their individualized learning.

ART1020 Studio Art Techniques

Grade 9-12 No prerequisite.

This semester course will explore a variety of tools, techniques, and media which provide students with the foundation necessary to expand into more specialized areas. Students will create two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art.  A materials fee will be charged.

ART2021 Drawing 2

Grades 9-12. Prerequisite Drawing 1.

This semester course offers the guided discovery of contemporary drawing media and approaches. Students will continue to learn and utilize critical analysis of artwork. Emphasis will be placed on technique, in-depth studies, and personal expressive choices. A materials fee will be charged.

ART1022 3D Printing and Design

Grades 9-12. No prerequisite.

This semester course will explore 3D printing and digital modeling of characters, jewelry, product design, architecture, vehicle concepts, and sculptural objects. Students will experience the art and design process by generating original designs, modeling the designs in 3D software, and printing them with state of the art 3D printers. A materials fee will be charged.

ART1024 Sculpture

Grades 9-12. No prerequisite.

This semester course will give the artist an opportunity to use a variety of sculpture tools, materials, and processes. They will learn and apply the language of design and channel personal ideas and feelings into the construction of 3-dimensional works of art. Emphasis will be placed on how the artist develops and communicates original ideas that visually express a successful integration of different materials.

ART2020 Animation

Grades 9-12. Prerequisite: Computer Graphics 1.

This semester course explores the world of animation including 2D and 3D animation, Claymation, stop motion, traditional hand drawn, flash, and experimental animation. Students will learn the history of animation, a variety of foundational techniques, and current software applications. A materials fee will be charged.
